SSD stands for “Solid State Drive” and is a relatively new technology. It is the newest form of “Hard Drive / Disk Drive” that comes with your computer. The benefit of the SSD over the previous hard drive technology is that it has no moving parts, and is accessed by the computer in the same way memory is accessed. This allows the computer to read and write data far quicker than the previous hard drive technologies. With great speed unfortunately comes great price, however as technology on the whole becomes cheaper, prices for SSD drives has become more affordable.
